Who Is Ian Fenton?

Ian Fenton has fifteen years experience in the film and television industry as a writer and director. His work has earned nominations and awards from BAFTA, the Royal Television Society, the San Francisco International Film Festival, and the London Short Film Festival.
He is the founder of The Story Engine - an annual conference and workshops aimed at helping new and emerging screenwriters gain a better understanding of the craft and business of screenwriting.
He regularly lectures and runs workshops on writing and creativity at a range of institutions and is an experienced mentor and consultant, having recieved training in that capacity through the Sources Projects and Processes workshop.
He has chaired public events for New Writing North, the Tyneside Cinema, Northern Film & Media and St. Johns University, York. Interviewees include the Observer journalist Lynn Barber, the novelist and sceenwriter Nick Hornby, the Guardian journalist Jon Ronson and screenwriter Peter Straughan, and the film director Bharat Nalluri.
He was born in Scotland and lives in the north of England.
