The Story Engine 2011
Having programmed this event for five years, its sometimes been hard to see where to take it next. But I’m pleased to say that this year’s edition has more or less programmed itself. The Long Walk Home
I directed this short animation a few years ago as part of a pilot for an artist’s project that eventually run aground. It features a 3D character in a 2D space that was made up from enormous scans of the artists original artwork that were cut up in Photoshop and animated in After Effects.
You can see more of my shorts on the Short Films page.

These crazy Czechs have made some of the most stunning Flash games I’ve ever seen. Richly textured, beautifully simple, and fantastically strange. I want to give up my job and go and live in one of their worlds and be a shoemaker or a balloon blower upper…

Northern Stars Get Co-Opted
All three short films from this year’s Northern Stars Academy have all been selected for the Co-Operative Film Festival and will screen at the National Media Museum in Bradford in October 2010. The NSA runs annually at the Tyneside Cinema in Newcastle, and sees sixteen 15-19 year olds making their first fiction films. I work as lead filmmaker at the Academy - see more on the Projects page.
A Book Of Water
